Hint:
The capacitive branch has an impedance of 1.1k - j6.1k or 6.2k \/ -80 deg.
The inductive branch has an impedance of 2.3k + j0.57k or 2.4k \/ 14 deg.

Ans:
The effective impedance of the two branches in parallel is 2.3k \/ -8 deg or 2.3k - j0.3k

Exercise 50:
Hint:
The effective impedance of the capacitor in parallel with the resistor is (1 - j) ohm.

Ans:
The effective impedance of the network is purely resistive at the specified frequency: 1 ohm.
