Class 11: Answers to Assignment

Chapter 4
Exercise 43:

Hint:
The capacitive impedance is -j ohm. The inductive impedance is j9 ohm.
The equivalent impedance of the three elements in series is (3+j8) ohm.

Ans:
The current is 1.41 amp \/ -69.4 deg

Exercise 44:
Hint:
The capacitive impedance is -j1.5 ohm. The inductive impedance is j6 ohm.
The equivalent impedance of the three elements in parallel is (0.93 - j1.38) ohm.

Ans:
The voltage is 16.7 volt \/ -56 deg

Exercise 54:
Hint:
a. At 1k rad/s, XL = 10 ohm.
b. At 1M rad/s, XL = 10k ohm.

Ans:
a. RTH = (500.1 + j 10) ohm.
b. RTH = (1490 + j 99) ohm.
Thanks to Andy Seagraves and Alex Reeser for reporting an error in my previous answer to 54.
